Huawei Kirin 920

Huawei today announced company’s latest next generation chipset – the Huawei Kirin 920. The Kirin 920 SoC is based on ARM’s big.LITTLE architecture which housed four Cortex A15 and four Cortex A7 cores.


Just like the SoCs in Samsung Smartphones (Exynos SoC), four Cortex A15 cores will be doing the heavy lifting i.e. more power requiring tasks and the power efficient Cortex A7 cores will be attending the tasks which need lesser powers and energy.

The four Cortex A15 cores can be clocked from 1.7 GHz to 2.0 GHz and the Cortex A7 cores are limited from 1.3 GHz to 1.6 GHz, The Kirin 920 SoC uses powerful Mali T628 MP4 quad core Graphics (Same you can find on Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S5 but with six cores).

The chipset support category 6 LTE networks and is built on 28 nm HPM process and features Tensilica HIFI3 professional audio processor, QHD (2560x1600 p) display support and 4K video recording at smooth 30 frames per second.

The first Smartphone to feature this Kirin 920 SoC is reported to be Huawei’s own next flagship Smartphone codenamed Huawei Mulan, which some rumors suggest will sport 4.5-inch Full HD display with 482 ppi density, 3 GB RAM, 13 MP camera with 4K video record.

The AnTuTu benchmark appeared yesterday, and guess what the Huawei Mulan with Kirin 920 tops the chart with a score of 37999, which is better than HTC One M8 (37009), International Galaxy S5 (36018) and Xperia Z2 (33182).
