Indian Samsung Galaxy S5 to pack Octa core processor and would be available from 11th April for Rs 51K to 53K;

Just like the Samsung Galaxy S4 and Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Samsung Galaxy S5 (SM-G900H) for India, as expected would be powered by an Octa core Exynos processor. The news has been confirmed by Samsung India Country Head Vineet Taneja.

The chipset that would be used is an Octa core Exynos 5422 (Quad core Cortex A15 @1.9 GHz + Quad core Cortex A7 @1.3 GHz) with ARM Mali T628 MP6 GPU, it is based on ARM big.LITTLE architecture on 28nm High K Metal Gate Process and features HMP processing.

If you don’t know what HMP is, HMP stands for Heterogeneous Multi Processing method.

This method works by letting each CPU to switch on or off when needed and enables usage of all physical cores at the same time, providing users high performance yet low power to carry out tasks such as 3D gaming, complex augmented reality and advanced web browsing.

In HMP method software threads with high priority can be allocated to the big and more powerful Quad core Cortex A15 cores running at 1.9 GHz, while threads with less priority can be performed by the LITTLE Cortex A7 cores running at 1.3 GHz, achieving high performance with low energy for Multi processing capability in mobile devices (read Galaxy S5).

Now Samsung Galaxy S4 was launched at a price tag of Rs. 41,500 in India but currently available at Rs. 29,499. Yesterday in a press release Samsung suggested that the price of S5 in India would be between 51K and 53K. It would be up for pre-orders starting from 29^th March and the final pricing will be known on 11^th April when it will start shipping.
