Winamp one of the most popular music player for Windows(pc version) will be gone forever next month. AOL has announced that the iconic media player will be shut down on 20th December 2013. Following that day you won't be able to download it again or get any further updates. :-(

Winamp has been available since 1997 for Windows and since then its popularity increased and it was one of the must have media player in the windows xp era. Not only was it insanely customizable( thanks to support for a huge amount of plug-ins and skins), it was also famous for its rich audio output.
Over the years, other media players have arrived and its popularity started to disappear... And moreover what was once a lightweight, slim app, turned into a bloated app with extra gimmicks and UI changes.
In recent time, AOL released a Winamp app for both Android and OSX, but neither manage to create the buzz like good old windows version nor attract music maniacs.
And as a result after 16 long years of service, AOL decided to shut Winamp down. The app is still available for download on the website( it's at v5.66 at the time of writing) and you can download it for another 25 day after that day the old friend will be gone for good.
