Battle of the flagship Android Smartphones about to
fuel up into a new level as Sony is geared up to launch its latest flagship
Sony Xperia Z2 in India on May 8, a recent report from Economics Times claims.
The Smartphone was unveiled in MWC this February at Barcelona.
According to the report, a company spokesperson has
talked to ET about this, Sony even sent out invitations to media on that day
(May 8). Though it is not know what price it will be launched with, but Amazon
UK has started taking pre-orders for €544.87, which converts in roughly Rs. 56,000.
But ET claims it will be priced lower than that. It
also makes sense, as both Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC One M8 are priced at Rs.
49,900 or so. Though Sony Xperia Z2 has some more punch over both of them.
The latest Sony flagship bears a 5.2-inch Full HD
(1080x1920 p) IPS LCD Triluminos X-Reality display with 424 ppi density with
Shatter proof and scratch resistant glass. And the Smartphone is IP58
certified, i.e. dust proof and water resistant up to 1 meter for 30 minutes.
The Sony Xperia Z2 is powered by latest Quad core Snapdragon
801 (MSM8974AB) chipset clocked @2.3 GHz along with Adreno 330 GPU. It comes
with 3 GB of RAM (which is 1 GB more that both HTC One M8 and Samsung Galaxy
S5) and 16 GB internal storage, which can be further expandable up to 128 GB
with microSD card.
Apart from the RAM another key spec of the Xperia Z2
is its 20.7 MP Auto Focus camera with LED Flash, which can shoot 2160p 4K
videos @30 fps, 1080p Full HD videos @60 fps and 720p HD videos @120 fps. Also
the 2.2 MP front camera is also capable of shooting 1080p videos @30 fps, so
expect some high res shelfies and crystal clear video calls.
Connectivity wise it covers almost anything you can
imagine, including 3G HSPA+ (HSDPA: 42.2 Mbps, HSUPA: 5.76 Mbps), 4G LTE (DL:
150 Mbps, UL: 50 Mbps), Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, Wi-Fi
Hotspot, Bluetooth v4.0 with A2DP, NFC, microUSB v2.0 (MHL 3), USB OTG, USB
Host, FM Radio with RDS, 3.5 mm Audio Jack.
Obviously it will come with latest Android 4.4.2
Kitkat out of the box and it packs a 3200 mAh Li-ion battery unit that is rated
to deliver up to 740 hours of stand-by times and talk time of 19 hours and
music play back of 120 hours. And off course the beautiful piece of hardware
will be available in cool colours including Black, White and Purple.
