Current Nexus device, the Nexus 5

Every year Google with one of the Smartphone hardware manufacturer launch Nexus Smartphones and tablets with stock vanilla version of Android. The Smartphone or tablet features latest version of Android and up to date specs like most of the flagship Smartphones manufactured by Sony, Samsung, LG etc, but costs a fraction than their price.

Every year many Nexus devices got sold like hot cakes, and the fact that solid performance in a low price is the main attraction for buyers. Google even doesn’t seek any profit from Nexus devices, and if you look at the price of Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 (2013) you will know that.

Now, according to a report from MTKSJ.com, Google is tying a partnership with popular budget SoC maker MediaTek in order to bring a $100 Nexus Smartphone. Though, neither any specs nor the launch date of the Smartphone has been revealed yet.

The latest version of Android namely Kitkat (v4.4.x) has been optimized in a way, so that it can run smoothly on devices with 512 MB of RAM without any lags whatsoever. So, if Google is really going to launch the alleged cheap Nexus Smartphone, it certainly makes sense.

Currently many small Android Smartphone manufacturers, Micromax, Lava, Xolo, Intex, Karbonn, Gionee, Spice etc sells low cost Android Smartphones with MediaTek chips in emerging Smartphone markets like India, China, even Sony, LG have Smartphones with MediaTek chips under Rs. 20K.

MediaTek is also the first Soc maker to launch true Octa core processor, in which all the 8 cores run all simultaneously. Also, there are many Smartphones with true Octa core MediaTek chipset, all deliver smooth Android experience, so not to worry, the low price won’t hurt the user experience.

There were early speculations suggesting Google would launch Android 4.5 this Google I/O event along with the Nexus 8 (the 8.9-inch screened Nexus 8 tablet) manufactured by HTC, and it would ditch Qualcomm Snapdragon chips in favour of an Intel chipset.

So, guys what do you say? Is it a right move from Google or not? If you ask me, I think Google is trying to make all people use a Smartphone. And, it’s almost sure if this Nexus device comes with this price tag, it will sell like hot cakes. Now let’s just wait and watch.
